Archons of Avenshar:New MUD

For those that may not be aware,a MUD is a multi-user real-time virtual world described entirely in text. It combines elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, interactive fiction, and online chat. Players can read descriptions of rooms, objects, other players, non-player characters, and actions performed in the virtual world. Players interact with each other and the world by typing commands that resemble a natural language.

Launched to the public on February 1st, Archons of Avenshar is developed by Rune Fire Studioofficial website, the game is a fantasy-themed, text based role playing game, where players assume the role of an adventurer, merchant, or noble.
The game comes with some standard and some innovative features.
Standard features include races,roleplaying,guilds.
The innovative features are very much interesting and exciting for new and old players alike. Innovative features include

-clans(under development)
-use of graphical interface: in game map, message boards, private messages, stats, abilities and more

To quote the official site

"instead of every activity being handled via pure text, visual metaphors are used to assist the player with certain actions. For example, instead of trying to learn and understand the command interface used to send in-game mail from one player to another, an intuitive graphical interface accepts user input via mouse -- similar to many graphical programs most people are already used to."

The game being new,one might think that it is boring, but actually it is the opposite. Since its launch, the game has been gaining players on a daily basis.Players are all very nice and helpful, which makes the game that much better to play.

The game is played by using the game's own client. The specs needed to run the client are:

internet connection
current browser
the latest version of Flash Player

the client features can be summarized as

  • Easy to use interfaces for mail, shopping, character selection and more
  • Input history, scrollable with the up/down arrow keys
  • Overhead minimap
  • Use of the numpad to quickly move in cardinal/ordinal directions
  • Clearly visible health, stamina and mana bars
  • Visual enhancments over plain text, such as multiple font families and sizes; greater color variations; embeddable graphics and sound

Overall the game is well done.Development continues on a daily basis, with weekly releases and so one can expect for this game to be even better.

Personally I would recommend this game to any mudders

Conservative America

Greetings

I am very excited to write about the brand new conservative grassroots movementConservative America

Launched following the victory of President-Elect Obama, Conservative America aims to serve as the gathering grassroots movement for all conservatives. In addition,Conservative America aimes to serve as the launch pad for the Republicans/Conservatives return to power.

Conservative America is dedicated on promoting conservative principles and values by educating the electorate, supporting solid candidates (at all levels of government) and working through the Republican party to provide positive, effective and transformational change and conservative policies for our nation.

Conservative America is governed by the following principles:

Individual Liberty - As Jefferson spelled out in the Declaration of Independence, our basic rights come from God, not from government, and that among these inalienable rights is the right to liberty. We must allow individuals to lead their lives with minimal government interference.

Personal Responsibility - The corollary to liberty is responsibility. No society can succeed and thrive for any duration unless free people act in a responsible way. All of us must take responsibility for our actions and strive to improve our own lives and to contribute to building a better society.

Free Markets - Free people are best equipped to order their own affairs, and the common interest benefits from the success of all. We must reform our tax system, encourage investment, support entrepreneurial spirit, open markets abroad to American goods, and minimize burdensome government regulations to continue to expand the economy and bring increased wealth to all Americans.

Limited Government - Government must be strong enough to protect us, competent enough to provide basic government services, but limited by the delineated powers in the Constitution.

Federalism - Our Constitution guarantees our liberties by spreading power among the
three branches of the federal government, and between the federal government and the states. In considering any action by the government, we must always ask two questions: is the government better equipped than the private sector and, if so, what level of government (federal or state) should perform this action

Protecting our Country - The first responsibility of the federal government is to protect the nation and the American people. There is no more important task. We must have a strong and effective military, capable intelligence services, and a vigorous law enforcement and homeland security capacity.

Traditional American Values - A healthy society is respect for all life; strong families centered on the institution of marriage—the union of a man and a woman; and self-respect and tolerance of others.
While we are all free to live our lives in the pursuit of our own happiness, the government has a responsibility to respect the right of parents to raise their children and to promote the values that produce the strongest society.

The Rule of Law - We protect our liberty, secure our rights, and promote a just and stable society through the rule of law. We owe to ourselves and our fellow citizens our own adherence to the rules, but tough law enforcement and punishment for those who do not. A free and independent judiciary that interprets the law by adhering strictly to legal text and respects its limited role in our system of government is essential to our security and freedom, and we need judges who understand that role

Conserving Our Nation’s Resources - We must always strive to ensure that the resources we use to lead our lives are here for future generations to enjoy and use as well.

Conservative America has many plans for grow and action, however, similar to any other groups/movements, Conservative America's success and grow lies within its community and members.

As such,I would like to invite you to visit Conservative America.Consider joining our movement and help us participate in the rebuilding of the Republican party and of the conservative movement.

New Job and other updates

Greetings everyone
Since last May,when I wrote the last post, there has been many changes in my life.
At the end of the summer,I moved to Grapevine(Texas) and I was hired as full time piano instructor at the private school Master's Touch School of Music.
The school is great, overall the students are good and I am very happy to be there.
My work schedule is basically full as I work 6 days per week and I have about 41 students each week.
On other notes,I am also preparing for concerts. In november,I am scheduled to perform the Schumann Piano Concerto in Kansas City,a private recital in Lawrence(Kansas) and then I have to prepare for a recital in Pittsburg and a world premiere at the University of Miami-Florida.

I think that is about it.Please feel free to comment or ask any questions

NCAA Men Basketball

Well,we are in the middle of the NCAA basketball tournament.
After about one week of games, there is one thing really certain: all the #1(Kansas,Memphis,North Carolina and UCLA) are still present in the tournament. This provides the very rare opportunity to see all 4 of them in the Final Four, something never done before.
Myself,as a Jayhawk,I believe that Kansas will prevail and win this year's tournament.Besides this belief, I can't wait for a Kansas-North Carolina game. It would pit Coach Williams vs Kansas in the matchup of the year.

What do you guys think?
What games are you looking forward to?
Who do you think will win the championship?

V-The Second Generation: Review

After 20 years or so of waiting, all the fans of the sci-fi mini-serie "V" are happy.
Kenneth Johnson, the creator of "V" has just released its follow up book called "V-The Second Generation"

What is V?

As explained by the fan site The Visitors

"The Visitors first appeared in May 1983 in the four-hour miniseries V (read the episode guide synopsis) made by Warner Brothers Television and aired on NBC. Kenneth Johnson was the talent behind V as its creator, writer, director, and executive producer. The show was such a ratings smash that the network ordered a sequel. NBC actually had wanted a weekly series next, but Warner Brothers could not find a way to make it work for the money.

A year later, the second miniseries was V: The Final Battle. Johnson supervised the writing of the script for the sequel, but he left the project shortly thereafter. Daniel Blatt and Robert Singer were brought in as co-executive producers. The six-hour mini-series aired in May 1984, and it was another ratings triumph for NBC. The network asked for a weekly series again (supposedly "just a couple of hours" after The Final Battle aired), and this time Warner Brothers was eager to oblige."

And so,about twenty years after the original, Kenneth Johnson released the follow up book.
The book sets the story twenty years after the original mini-series.
From the beginning, Kenneth Johnson "takes" you in the story. In reading you have the impression of being in the action, of being part of story.
The characters, their inner fights and feelings are so well rendered, one has the impression of knowing them.
The action is so vividly portrayed that the reader is excited.

I will not divulge any spoilers, but just know that you will be on the edge of your chair at all times.

Presidential Nominee

Following Super Tuesday, it looks like the Republican nominee will be John McCain.
The Democrats are still too close to call.

Interestingly, Romney just suspended his campaign and Hillary Clinton loaned her campaing about $5 million dollars.
It seems Ms Clinton's campaign is short on funds and this promises for the upcoming democrat primaries

On another note, on January 24th, General Jerry Curry started in Oklahoma his bid for the 2008 Republican nomination. For more info about General Curry, please visit his official site
